Sizing & Pendant Care

Chain Lengths

  • 18” chains: suits petite folks or customers who prefer a choker-style necklace
  • 22” & 24" chains: a safe bet for folks of all sizes
  • 26” & 27” chains: suits sturdy folks or customers who prefer a statement necklace style
  • Adjustability:
    • Steel & brass ball chains - cut down to size with scissors or sturdy shears

If you are still unsure, we suggest taking a piece of string and loosely looping it around your neck like a necklace. Adjust so that the end of the string overlaps at a point on your chest that is comfortable for you. Make a mark on the string at the point where it overlaps and measure the length of the string from the end to the mark. Select the chain length option that is closest to your comfortable measurement.

Pendant Care

Our wax seal pendants are made from .925 sterling silver, our gold pendants are 14/20 gold-filled, and our coin and bar pendants are made from raw brass. Moisture affects all metals, whether it is water or sweat, and will cause the metal to develop a patina more quickly than normal. This means that the metal will darken and take on a more antique look. If you want to avoid this, we recommend taking the necklace off before showering or swimming, or polishing it with a soft cloth or appropriate polishing compound. If you choose to wear your necklace 24/7, your skin may have a reaction to the chain. We recommend taking the necklace off when you sleep to give your skin a chance to breathe and recover.

Nickel Allergy

If you are purchasing a necklace for yourself or someone else who has a nickel allergy, we would recommend a sterling silver pendant and a stainless steel chain (rolo, cable, or steel ball).
