INVICTUS - Brass Block Necklace

$32

+ DESCRIPTION

Hand-crafted from start to finish, this brass block pendant features the Latin word INVICTUS which means "unconquered."

This pendant was directly inspired by customer suggestions and by the poem of the same title written by William Ernest Henley in 1875.

Invictus by William Ernest Henley

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll,

I am the master of my fate,

I am the captain of my soul.

In addition to the nautical elements of Henley's poem, we feel that the phrase "unconquered" and the theme of overcoming hardship to become stronger through the struggle aligns well with the mentality and pursuits we want to encourage. Each person is in charge of their course through life and how they choose to travel it, so choose to remain unconquered by trials and tribulations.

The pendant’s pleasant weight against your chest will provide a constant nudge to live out this ideal.

If you are unsure about which chain length to order, please read our suggestions on the FAQ page.

If you would prefer this pendant on a leather cord instead of a chain, you can find that here.
