AMOR VINCIT OMNIA "Love Conquers All" - Infinity Knot Brass Coin Necklace
The infinity sign speaks to the hope that once found, love will be everlasting.
The phrase AMOR VINCIT OMNIA was perhaps made most famous by the Italian Baroque artist Caravaggio and his painting of the same title. The painting depicts a brazen Cupid, the Roman god of love, knocking over many symbols of human endeavors and civilization, offering the commentary that art, war, music, and exploration pale in comparison to the pursuit (or possession) of love. The motto sometimes appears as OMNIA VINCIT AMOR ("all is conquered by love"), which was the original iteration in the Roman poet Virgil's Eclogues X, published around 37 BCE. Virgil is credited with first coining the phrase, and he truly said it best: OMNIA VINCIT AMOR: ET NOS CEDAMUS AMORI - “Love conquers all; let us, too, yield to love!”
Great idea, great reminder all day!
What a great idea for important sayings. I’ve never worn a chain before, but found this company and really appreciate the products and thought put into creating them. Highly recommend if one of these resonates with you.
I wish the necklace chain itself was bigger but I got it mainly because of the coins so all in all a pretty good buy
