Hand-crafted from start to finish, this stamped coin features the Latin phrase MENTE MANUQUE, which means “With mind and hand.”
This phrase has a couple of different iterations and translations. Another translation could be "with heart and hand," and the phrase has also appeared as MENTE MANUQUE PRAESTO, which means "ready with mind and hand," or as MENS ET MANUS, "mind and hand" (which also happens to be MIT's motto). We feel that this phrase speaks to the two key factors of succeeding in any task: using your learned skills and mental power to practically apply theory through action and handiwork. One side of the equation fails without the other: if something is only discussed and never acted upon, the task remains incomplete. If an assignment is completed without careful consideration and forethought, it will ultimately fail.
Whatever goals may lay before you, we hope this phrase serves as a reminder to be ready to give it your all, with both the power of your mind and the work of your hands.
